Why the Bible

The Inerrancy of Scripture - Authored by God

Knowing the Bible reveals its truth to the reader.

What Isreal believed about their Messiah:

Psalm 2

He is coming as a King to save them from their suppressors. Will be born as a King from the line of David.

A symbol of what they should expect. Predictions of who the Messiah would be. Jesus did not fit the mould of the Great and awesome God they were expecting.

Psalm 22

Although Psalm 22 is a vision of what Jesus would experience on the cross it was not recognizable by the jews as it did not fit into their own belief system. It is with our knowledge today that we can look back at Psalm 22 and knowing the fate of Jesus see and understand the true significance of the vision of this amazing future revelation.

Psalm 22: 14 - 18

"I am poured out like water,
And all my bones are out of joint;
My heart is like wax;
It is melted within me.
My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
And my tongue cleaves to my jaws;
And You lay me in the dust of death.
For dogs have surrounded me;
A band of evildoers has encompassed me;
They pierced my hands and my feet.
I count all my bones.
They look, they stare at me;

They divide my garments among them,

And for my clothing they cast lots."

Isaiah 53

What Isaiah wrote here was not in line with the imagery of the Messiah as believed by the Jewish leaders at the time. Therefore for Isaiah to have been able to write this passage it could only have come from God himself. Isaiah had no grounds for this writing and the sheer perfection of the passage makes it unmistakeably the work of God.

Ther is not a word or sentence out of place.
