Day 24 ~ The Purpose Driven Life ~ Transformed by Truth

The Edict of Truth Issued by Christ!

Are you slaves to Christ or are you adorned as sons of the Father? For slaves hear the commands of the master but sons and daughters of the Father replicate with gladness and joy the household rules as that is theirs to keep and comes from the heart. Sons and daughters of God are heirs of this heritage and it is their pride and joy.

Jesus said, “A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:35-36 (BSB)

“THE TRUTH TRANSFORMS US.
Spiritual growth is the process of replacing lies with truth. Jesus prayed, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” John 17:17 (NIV)  Sanctification requires revelation. The Spirit of God uses the Word of God to make us like the Son of God. To become like Jesus, we must fill our lives with his Word. The Bible says, “Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.” 2 Timothy 3:17 (MSG)
God’s Word is unlike any other word. It is alive. (Hebrew 4: 12; Acts 7: 38; 1 Peter 1: 23.)”

Jesus said ; “The words I have been speaking to you are truths which are the spirit of life.” John 6:63b (Para)

There is no doubt that the source of our knowledge of God  lies in his Word. As does the source of our knowledge of Christ lie in his word. The ultimate and all-encompassing word that we are presented is primarily the Bible. The question that begs to be answered is not whether the Bible is true but rather is the Bible that we are presented the true Word of God?

The Bible is truly a very dangerous book. Even a corrupted and broken Bible, such as relied on by the Muslim faith, can motivate people to heights of dangerous evil. Under the veil of Christianity, there have been many quasi-justified acts of violence. Catholicism has marred the Christian faith for centuries from the time of Constantine 1 the Roman Emperor who in 313 legalise Christianity throughout the Roman Empire. This is the birthplace of the Roman Catholic Church. Unfortunately,  it’s hierarchical system reintroduced the temple model across the globe. Yet, this temple model was the principal form of worship that Jesus had opposed. Hence we had the Reformation by Martin Luther, who was actually a Roman Catholic ordained priest, in 1517.

“These impulses merge in one particular branch of Christianity that ‘began’ on October 31, 1517, when a young Augustinian monk named Martin Luther challenged the church hierarchy of his day by posting 95 complaints on the door of the Wittenberg Church in Germany. Protestantism was born.” (Quoted from https://bible.org/seriespage/1-wycliffe-king-james-period-challenge)

The above was quoted from a brilliant exposition of the development of the English Bible. The article explores the various Bibles that have emerged since the Reformation. It is important to know the truth, and above all, it is really important to know that the Bible that you are using comes from a reliable source and is not tainted or skewed by some unfounded religious doctrine.
Catholicism, Islam, Jehovah’s Witness, Mormons (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) and Judaism etc… are using versions of the Bible’s which have been adapted to support their doctrine. Although Judaism uses the original old Testament as their source document they deny the existence of the new Testament and Christ. Therefore there is also an incomplete Bible and they put you under the Mosaic law. The whole new Testament cries out against the temple model and the freedom from the Mosaic law.

Although the King James version of the Bible, produced in 1611 is revered as trustworthy it is truly marred by the fact that it relied in its Scripture, in most cases, from the very man that the establishment had burned at the stake for trying to make the Bible available to the commoner. Further, there are clear doctrinal interpretations in this Bible to align it with the temple model.

In 1526 William Tyndall produced the first complete translation from the original Greek of the new Testament. He also translated in 1530 the first 14 books of the old Testament into common English. He was hunted by Catholics and the Church of England. Eventually he was caught and burnt at the stake for trying to make the word of God available to the common Englishman. He was quoted saying of the pope, “If God spare my life, ere many yeares I wyl cause a boy that driveth the plough to know more of the Scripture, than he doust.”
“In 1535, Tyndale was arrested and jailed in the castle of Vilvoorde (Filford) outside Brussels for over a year. In 1536, he was convicted of heresy and executed by strangulation, after which his body was burnt at the stake. His dying prayer was that the King of England’s eyes would be opened; this seemed to find its fulfilment just two years later with Henry’s authorisation of the Great Bible for the Church of England, which was largely Tyndale’s own work. Hence, the Tyndale Bible, as it was known, continued to play a key role in spreading Reformation ideas across the English-speaking world and, eventually, to the British Empire.” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Tyndale)

So in 1611, the King James version of the Bible is published using 90% or more of Tindale’s work in the new Testament as well as the books which he had translated directly from the Hebrew in the old Testament and not a word about the source or any acknowledgement of the great contribution this man had paid for with his life.

Despite this God’s word comes off the pages of the King James and changes lives, not so much because of the Bible itself but because of who God is.

The indwelling Spirit of our most High Triune God will not be halted by mans imperfections.

Know the truth. The truth is the word of God. If you are truly seeking God, you will find him through his word. But above all know the truth, search and find the whole truth!

  1. This conversation is by no means over. I have already had the KJV purists at my throat. “So which bible is pure and true?” There honest truth is none. We are humans sculptured in the image of God, therefore there has to be an abundant diversity and no matter how we try we will be creative in the most boring and exacting facsimile projects. If we are copying text word for word, from one manuscript to the next, we as humans will introduce our signature by creating deviance in the script. We are driven to and destined to create because that is what makes us “Images of God”. See Day 22 of this blog ; https://goo.gl/Qw0LDe ..
